021 Choosing a Name

Principle among the first 30 day objectives is to choose a name for yourself, or as put in most marketing textbooks, create "branding."

Having a recognizable, well-branded, memorable, and most importantly, consistent name is crucial. What most fitness professionals do is name the company after themselves: Mary Smith's personal training business is typically called "Mary Smith Fitness," or "Body by Mary," or something similar. While this is certainly an option, it may not be the best option when viewed in light of growth and expansion.

We're not going as far as to say "thou shalt not name thy business after thine own self," but there are considerations to take into account when choosing a name.
